Dewsbury South
Dewsbury South ward covers Savile Town, Thornhill, Thornhill Lees, Whitley and Briestfield
It fans out from the urban, more densely populated areas nearer to Dewsbury town centre to more rural areas bordering with Wakefield to the east and Kirkburton to the south.
It is represented by councillors Masood Ahmed, Nosheen Dad and Gulfam Asif.
The Dewsbury South Labour candidate for the next election is Jackie Ramsay. Jackie is a former community healthcare worker who volunteers with the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, Friends of Dewsbury Station and the Dewsbury Forward regeneration group.
Dewsbury South Labour Party meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Taleem Training & Community Centre, Orchard Street, Savile Town, WF12 9LT.
Meetings normally last between 60-90 mins. Alternate months we aim to have a speaker, for instance, in September we had Councillor Shabir Pandor, Leader of the Council and in November we have Councillor Naheed Mather, who is the council lead for Communities and the Environment.
