On Facebook Cllr Will Simpson commented:
For the last year, we have been developing our wildflower initiative to invest in our community spaces and brighten up our villages.
The aim is to improve our community spaces for everyone to enjoy, whilst supporting the environment by increasing biodiversity and protecting pollinators.
Our flagship site has been opposite Just Thai in Denby Dale – as well as working with the Council parks team to create a wildflower site at the new Rec in Skelmanthorpe.
As well as improving the public spaces and biodiversity, the investment also have a net positive carbon benefit.
A consultation on the project received an overwhelmingly positive responses, with residents supporting the site, a wider rollout across the ward and a call for sites across the borough.
In an interview with Yorkshire Live Cllr Simpson commented:
“We are also hoping that the council will look at the success that we have had here and support this with some investments in the borough.”
